James “Jim” Charles Nichols, 72, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.  Jim was born on December 23, 1948, in Pontiac, Michigan, to Geraldine Violet Gilliland Nichols and James Burrell Nichols, Jr.  

In 1953, Jim and his family, the “Four J’s,” moved from Albion, Michigan to Beaumont where he attended Eugene Field Elementary, James Bowie Junior High and graduated in 1967 from French High School.  After graduation, Jim attended Sam Houston State in Huntsville.  During the height of the Vietnam War, Jim and several friends enlisted in the United States Marine Reserves and were stationed at Fort Ord in California.  After returning to Beaumont, he enrolled in Lamar State College studying business. 

In 1955, his parents started Nichols Tile Sales where he worked for many years. An avid lover of nature, Jim enjoyed fishing, walks in the woods and birds. Jim will forever be remembered by his quick wit and infectious smile. A fan of politics, he had not missed a Rush Limbaugh show in twenty years. He kept up with the weather and could tell you what the weather was going to be today, tomorrow, and a week from now. 

Jim is survived by his only sibling, Jadeanne Joy Nichols Hayes and her husband, Jeffrey Lynn Hayes; his wife, Maggie Nichols all of Beaumont; three stepsons, Jorge Isaac Arias, Samuel Alberto Arias and Jorge Alberto Arias, all of Honduras; niece, Kelli Kathryn Hayes Trevino and her husband, Paul Trevino; nephews, James Kyle Hayes and his wife, Ann Perkins Hayes and Jason Roy Hunter Hayes, and his wife Janice Mazzoli Hayes, all of Beaumont.  Jim was also blessed to have many great nieces and nephews that adored him, James Jeffrey Trevino, William Jordan Reese, IV, Mary-Caroline Trevino, David Carroll Perkins Reese, Anne Kathryn Trevino, Lauren Grace Hayes, Walker O’Hara Reese, William Huston Hayes, James Jeffrey Harrison Hayes and Elizabeth James Trevino. 

He is preceded in death by one day by his only child, Abigail Violet Nichols and his parents Jerry and Jim Nichols.         

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, under the direction of Broussard’s Mortuary, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont, Texas.                        

James “Jim” Henry Moseley II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully with his family at his side, Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

He was born September 25, 1948 to Martin Luther and Martha Jane Moseley in east Texas.  He graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in 1971, then moved to Washington, D.C. where he joined the U.S. Air Force Band and earned a Master of Music degree from Catholic University.

He married his wife, Rebecca Martin Moseley, in 1975.  The pair raised two sons, Jason and Ben, and later in life “adopted” a third, Luis Miguel.

A talented musician, he played oboe and English horn with the U.S. Air Force Band for 30 years.  He also played with countless professional ensembles during his time with the Air Force and well after his retirement.  His years of playing allowed him to share his music with the world and make life-long friends.  His greatest passion was imparting his love of music and the joy of double-reed playing to others, a gift which “Mr. Moseley” shared with hundreds of students over the course of nearly 50 years and until just three days before his passing.

Known for his countless black bags, embracing the latest technology, and his soft smile, he will be missed.

Jim is survived by his wife of 45 years, his sons, their wives, two grandchildren, and a rich musical legacy.

Jim will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.  A celebration of his life will be planned for next summer, when a gathering of his family, friends, students, and colleagues can be more safely held.

Bennie Leon Beuhler, age 69, passed away on May 29, 2019. He was born in Beaumont, TX on August 1, 1949 to John William Beuhler and Bennie Lee McCauley Beuhler.

Full of life and very accepting, Bennie encompassed the fact that you loved to hate him. Loving to pick, his fun-loving personality enjoyed riling others up and getting on their nerves, but at the same time would help anyone. His eclectic character, harmonized a perfect combination of charity and eccentricity, earning him the sentiment often repeated of him that he was “your favorite family member, and your least favorite family member, at the same time”. He believed in people and in love. No matter how much he picked, his actions bore witness to his belief that “God is love”, and this love had a bedding ground in the heart of every person. Bennie was always honest and loving to his family; “Paw Paw Bennie” wanted to be known as “the cool Grandpa” and accomplished this with grandkids, who often referred to him as their “best friend”. He loved fishing, hunting, muscle cars, guns and loud rock n roll music, though he was especially fond of hugs from any lady willing. Benny always had a special place in his heart for his babies, his dogs “Milo” and “Tulip”. As the owner of his own tackle shop “Quality Tackle”, he would repair rods and reels. Often impulsive and a “bull in a china cabinet”, with his big personality came a big, caring heart. Many knew of his questionable driving skills, and a car ride with Bennie was a nerve-wracking experience to the point of wishing that a blindfold had been provided beforehand. Those who knew him well, knew him as one of the funniest people in their lives. His loud, easily recognizable laugh was accompanied by an incomparable Gift of Gab, and whether you wanted to hear it or not, Bennie would say it anyway. History and politics were both passions dear to his heart. His love for our 45th President was in high doubt, and in fact, some would say that it was Donald Trump that finally killed him. Bennie’s passion for life and heart of love for his family left many memories that will be forever cherished; “The most stable genius” his loved ones ever met, will be missed.

Left to honor his memory are numerous family and friends, including his sister, Loretta Howard.

Bennie is preceded in death by parents and brother, John Beuhler Jr.

Visitation with family and friends will be 3:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Lumberton Family Funeral Home, 766 S. Main St. Lumberton, TX 77657. Bennie’s life honoring memorial service will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m., also at the funeral home, with his son, Jason Buehler, officiating.

Joe David Allen, Sr., 70, of Kountze, died Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on September 12, 1948, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Stacy Grace Cook and Curtis Lafayette Allen. Joe was a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served during the Vietnam Era.

Survivors include his children, Lori Palmer and her husband, Mike, of Beaumont; Joe Allen, Jr., and his wife, Sherri, of Kountze; and Randy Allen and his wife, Jaime, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Katlin Allen, John Allen, Sara Allen, Zachary Allen, Billy Allen, and Luke Allen; great-grandson, Samuel Allen; sisters, Louise Dillard and Sue May; brother, Curtis Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iris Sue King; sister, Rosemary Hardesty; brother, Paul Allen; and grandson, Christopher Allen.

A gathering of Mr. Allen’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2019, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. His interment will follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

Doug was called Home by The Lord on Friday, October 19, 2018. He was born on May 29, 1949, in Starkville, Mississippi, and was the only child of Terry and Everett Bond. He and his parents moved to Beaumont, Texas, early in his life to be closer to family. He attended Beaumont schools and graduated from French High School in 1967, where he excelled in baseball and football. In 1968, Doug joined the United States Army and was assigned to a Security Division. He honorably left the service as a Sergeant E-5 in 1972. 

As Doug had been brought up in a construction/home builder’s family, he naturally chose this line of work as a career. He began as a Territory Representative for Sherwin Williams in Beaumont and was transferred to Denver as a Commercial Rep. Later, he was employed by Star, Inc. and Medena Homes in Denver as a Project Manager and Project Superintendent. In 1997, Doug moved to Daytona Beach, Florida where he was employed by Aluma Shield and Danella Construction as Supervisor/Foreman. In 2007, Doug attended his 40th High School Reunion in Beaumont and decided to stay. There was never a question where Doug would worship. He immediately began attending services with his aunt, Jimmie Terrell, in the church he grew up in, North End Baptist Church. Once established in Beaumont, he joined the bowling community at Star Bowling and often would travel to State Senior Tournaments placing first and second in several. Doug was also a member of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC). 

Doug was most recently employed by M&D Supply, Inc. and had been with them a number of years. He was the one “in the know” in the paint department. Many customers relied on his knowledge and expertise. Doug frequently spoke of his many close relationships with his co-workers and customers. 

Survivors include his son, John Bond and his wife, Lauri, of Port Barre, Louisiana; daughter, Chassidy Hamilton and her husband, George, and grandson, Logan, all of Grant, Florida; first cousins, Mary Paule, and Debbie Riley and her husband, James, all of Beaumont; Kenneth May and his wife, Mary, of Houston, and their families. 

He was preceded in death by his first cousin, Robin May. 

Doug is truly missed by many family members and friends.

A memorial service for Mr. Bond will be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 Major Drive, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont. Mr. Bond’s cremated body will be interred in the Houston National Veteran’s Cemetery, 10410 Veteran’s Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas at a later date.
